
1. Parkash Singh Badal is an Indian politician who served as the Chief Minister of the Indian state of Punjab from 1970 to 1971, from 1977 to 1980 and from 1997 to 2017.
2. He was born on 8 December 1927 in Abul Khurana village of Punjab.
3. He was the President of the Shiromani Akali Dal from 1980 to 2017.
4. He is a member of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and is the founder of the Akali Dal-BJP alliance.
5. He has also served as the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee from 1956 to 1964.
6. In 1985, he was awarded India’s second highest civilian honour, the Padma Vibhushan, for his outstanding contribution to public service.
