1. Birmingham City University (BCU) is a public university located in Birmingham, the second-largest city in the United Kingdom.
2. It is the second-largest university in the city and has a student population of around 25,000, with around 77% of those students studying undergraduate courses.
3. BCU was established in 1992 following the merger of four colleges. It consists of five campuses: City Centre, North, South, West and East.
4. Its focus is on professional, technical and vocational courses and the university offers over 500 courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
5. As well as a range of vocational and professional courses, the university also offers international exchange programmes, research and development and Executive Education programmes.
6. The main campus is located in the city centre and is home to a range of facilities, including the library and sports centre as well as specialist accommodation for students.
7. Other campuses offer students a range of additional facilities, including a conference centre, business incubator, cafe, student union and a theatre.
8.The university also has an agreement with Birmingham City Council to provide education and training services to further enhance the local economy.
